Interperfums surprises in the first half of 2023 with a growth of more than 24% compared to last year. The French group specialising in fragrances recorded 396 million euros in sales with a net profit of 77.9 million euros, an increase of 43%.
Montblanc, Jimmy Choo and Coach were the brands that drove this growth at Interparfums. On the one hand, Montblanc has experienced an increase in sales of 24%, in euros, reaching 107 million euros. Secondly, Jimmy Choo achieved sales of just over 100 million euros, 44% more than in the previous year. This remarkable increase was thanks to the success of the I Want Choo fragrance line. Coach, meanwhile, has consolidated its position as the third mainstay of Interparfums' growth with sales of 86 million euros, up 27%.
Moncler is the only brand owned by Interparfums that has not suffered the same fate as the rest of the French group's brands. The Italian perfume brand fell 30% in the first quarter of 2023. Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interperfums, said that the Italian fragrance house has not lived up to expectations: "Moncler is well below our expectations, its products are probably a bit complex and it is a brand that we could classify as divisive". Benacin, however, said that Interparfums is working to reverse the situation and revealed what the solution will be: a broader men's project to be launched in 2025.
The immediate future of Interparfums
Interparfums is already looking optimistically to 2024, and why not 2025. On 1 January, Interparfums will officially take over the Lacoste licence, which has renounced continuity with Coty. The French group has already announced that it will keep the 15 Lacoste references with the best results and is preparing a first launch in autumn next year.
On the other hand, Interparfums has surprised with news of a launch. Interparfums has reportedly been working for three quarters on a premium segment launch to be presented in 2025. The company's CEO explained that the project will be presented exclusively to its partners and distributors in April 2024 and follows in the footsteps of Coty, a group that has also created its own line of premium perfumes, which will also be presented in 2024.
