Safic-Alcan continues its policy of alliances, agreements and acquisitions. On this occasion, it is focusing on the African continent and has announced the acquisition of 100% of Southern Chemicals, as reported by the French company in a press release.
Southern Chemicals is a leader in the distribution sector, specialising in the distribution of chemicals in different industrial sectors.
The French company highlights some of Southern Chemicals' strategic locations. It has warehouses in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg and Cape Town. These locations give it an advantage in terms of sales and distribution throughout the region.
Yan Lissillour, CEO of Safic-Alcan, explained that he is pleased after the transaction: "We are delighted to welcome Rod Proome, Mike Formo and the entire team to the Safic-Alcan Group. We start our activities in South Africa in 2020, and the addition of Southern Chemicals will create a very strong platform for further growth."
Rod Proome, director of Southern Chemicals, said the company will retain its own identity: "the new partnership with Safic-Alcan's established global network and technical expertise fits very well with Southern Chemical's industrial footprint." Proome has emphasised that this new step for the company will enable it to enhance product offerings and move forward in digital and technology, as well as strengthen its long-term commitment to partners, customers and suppliers.
