Shiseido posts losses in 2024

The Japanese cosmetics giant posted a net loss of more than 69 million euros

Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido reported a net loss of 69.1 million euros compared to a profit of 139 million euros in the previous year.

The company still experienced a 1.8% increase in revenues to 6,334 million euros. In the Japanese market, as reported by the company, it had a turnover of 1.814 billion euros, and in the Chinese market, 1.598 billion euros. In the rest of Asia-Pacific it has managed to obtain income of 458 million euros and in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 848 million euros, in America, more than 758 million euros and in travel retail, more than 689 million euros. 

Shiseido says that economic uncertainty has marked the results of 2024: ‘During the fiscal year ended 31 December 2024, global economic uncertainty remained high amid escalating geopolitical risks, rising prices and increased volatility in the foreign exchange market’

Looking ahead to 2025, Shiseido anticipates net sales of €6,362 million, an increase of 0.4% compared to 2024. Net attributable profit will be €38.4 million.
