Industrial inflation is stabilising in the perfumery and cosmetics category in Spain. After a string of months of increases, in October, November and December the values seem to have moderated and consolidated.

The most notable monthly value occurred in the year 2022, and now, in 2023, it seems to have softened, although it maintains a more moderate upward trend. The year 2022 was a great burden for the cosmetics and perfumery sector in Spain, increasing by up to 14% with respect to 2021.

This stabilisation in this category and the general decline in these prices, as explained by the National Statistics Institute, seems to be due to a slowdown in the price of energy and resources used for manufacturing and industry, after having experienced a record rise in 2022.

In general terms, industrial prices, according to the National Institute of Statistics, have registered an average fall of 4.7%, which is the biggest fall since 1975.
