The company Biogründl, SL has opened a new warehouse in Gavà (Barcelona). In 2018 it acquired the 2000 m2 plot of land on which to build the warehouse. In 2023, the company opened these modern facilities, which have a total surface area of 3000m2 and are designed to increase production capacity and improve efficiency in the company's supply chain. As the company's CEO, Ruth Margalef, has indicated, this new warehouse is synonymous with the future. These new facilities will make it possible to achieve one of the company's goals: to manufacture state-of-the-art, more sustainable and circular cosmetic ingredients.
As the statement issued by the cosmetics manufacturer indicates, the facility is equipped with the latest technology in machinery and quality control systems, as well as clean rooms, to ensure that its products maintain their high quality standards. In addition, the facility is designed to be environmentally friendly, with an efficient lighting and ventilation system and sustainable waste management.
What does sustainability mean at Biogründlr?
With regard to sustainability, Ruth Margalef has indicated that thanks to the new facilities, "the new generation of Biogründl cosmetic ingredients will be even more environmentally friendly and sustainable. "Biogründl's new generation of cosmetic ingredients will be even more environmentally friendly and sustainable, not only because of the raw materials used in the manufacturing process, but also because of the careful production process itself". Biogründl's new production facilities and quality and R&D laboratories will be equipped with photovoltaics and two green roofs, one of which will be equipped with photovoltaic greenhouses for research purposes. Biogründl has reinforced its commitment to the production, development and research of active ingredients, with a commitment to a circular and sustainable nature.
Ruth Margalef, as she told 'Next in Beauty', the development of innovation and sustainability strategies are the differentiating factors in the organisation, which is in search of business excellence. Both, for the company's CEO, are closely linked to Social Responsibility, which translates into generating a social impact that must be translated into a firm and correct commitment to strategic direction and that takes advantage of all the organisation's resources and strengths. In terms of sustainability, Margalef pointed out that the objectives are to become carbon neutral by 2040 and added that "it is essential to produce well, to be environmentally friendly, more sustainable and circular, and more energy efficient". This goal has been kept very much in mind when laying the foundations of this new warehouse.
How and what is produced is the focus of many of the organisation's strategic efforts: "Biogründl wants to base its production strategy on concepts ranging from the circular economy to the production of more sustainable products, such as the new line of stem cell extracts, the exclusive use of biodegradable products, the collaboration with technology company studies, the completion of its Biogründl Station project or the investment in more efficient and energy-saving equipment, not to mention the installation of photovoltaic panels powered by renewable energy. Moreover, having our own cultures means that this new line of stem cell extracts can be fully traceable from the origin to the production of the extract". With all this, Biogründl is positioning itself as a leading company in Spain with products from the circular and sustainable economy.

But sustainability is not the only challenge for Biogründl. In fact, they are also looking into the possibility of opening up new markets, something which, as the company's top manager explains, requires time and dedication. The three cornerstones of Biogründl's approach to studying the alternatives are: getting an overview of the industry and the market, a thorough analysis of the target audience, and a further analysis of the competition. "Before jumping into uncharted territory, there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, make sure there is a market. On the other hand, observing similar businesses to estimate their size and composition, noting the most visible trends and describing the market segments will help us with our objective," argued Ruth Margalef.
Margalef also stresses that it is valuable and crucial not to focus on immediate results and that it is essential to look beyond, to visualise what can be achieved in the long term. Ruth Margalef stressed that they continue to work on strategic planning with meticulousness, detail and thoroughness in order to define and choose the best path for the organisation. To do this, she points out that it is essential to keep constantly informed of what is going on around them, and something that helps a lot is customer feedback to learn about both opportunities and possible threats in the current market.
