Cosmetorium breaks a new visitor record at this year's edition. The Palau de Congressos de Barcelona welcomed more than 3,000 professionals from the cosmetics sector to the eighth edition of Cosmetorium on 23 and 24 October.

The event, organised by the Spanish Society of Cosmetic Chemists and Step Exhibitions, brought together 144 exhibitors and more than 3,000 industry professionals, reaffirming the importance of the sector in Spain. The 144 exhibitors included a wide variety of company profiles: laboratory equipment, third-party manufacturing and training, raw materials for cosmetics and perfumery, packaging and specialised services for the industry.

During the two days in which Cosmetorium was held, the event offered an extensive programme of more than 70 activities focused on knowledge and dissemination, training and networking with a large number of visitors to the fair.

One of the highlights of the programme was the talk by Professor Paco Calvo. Calvo presented his findings on the intelligence of plants. This research offers a new perspective on the use of plant-based raw materials in product development. Salvador Macip also brought visitors to the Cosmetorium closer to new advances in research that offered an insight into the possibility of attaining immortality. Also relevant to the cosmetics industry were the controversy with microplastics, applications of biomaterials, the ethical use of technology and advertising, the importance of cybersecurity and legislative updates.

Cosmetorium Awards: formulation texture awards

This year's Cosmetorium awarded prizes for ‘Transforming textures: a technical and sensorial challenge’. The first prize was awarded to Comercial Química Massó for its formula ‘Flor de Barcelona Body Melting Oil’, a solid body oil in single doses in the shape of a typical Barcelona panot whose texture transforms on contact with the skin. Second prize went to Quimidroga, with its formula ‘Calm & Radiance Sunset Mask’, a mask that transforms from powder to balm and provides a feeling of calmness to the skin and restores its vitality after sun exposure. DKSH won third prize with ‘BI-Phasic Cleansing Liquid to Gel’, a refreshing face cleanser that changes from liquid to gel for easy application.

Next in Beauty is part of Cosmetorium for the second year running

Next in Beauty was present during Cosmetorium with a stand and, this year, in a special way. The business media of the cosmetics, perfumery and personal care industry took advantage of this unmissable event for professionals in the sector to present the first issue of its physical magazine, which will be published quarterly. Visitors to the fair came to the Next in Beauty stand to get their magazine and almost 600 copies were distributed during the two-day event.

The date for the next edition of Cosmetorium is now available

The fair organised by the Spanish Society of Cosmetic Chemists has already announced the date of the ninth edition. It will be held on 22 and 23 October 2025 at the La Farga exhibition centre in Barcelona.

María Aurora Beinages, President of the SEQC, stressed that it is ‘an event that contributes to the structuring of our industry, generates synergies and boosts R&D’. The president also explained that Cosmetorium will face important changes in the future, such as the new headquarters, but that it will continue to maintain its essence and commitment to the sector.
