Sustainability has been one of the main growth drivers in the packaging market for several years now. This concept is now perceived holistically and encompasses both products and processes along the entire value chain. In this context, the use of more environmentally friendly materials has become an important value, enabling companies such as Quadpack Wood to grow and expand in recent years.

The Quadpack Group subsidiary, which specialises in the production of wooden closures, packaging and decorative elements, mainly for the perfumery, cosmetics and alcoholic beverage markets, and with a production plant in Sant Vicent de Torelló (Barcelona), expects to increase its sales by between 5% and 10% in 2024, after closing 2023 with sales of 14 million euros (13.5 million the previous year) and more than 30 million pieces sold, both packaging and closures, representing 11% of its revenue.

This growth is not only due to the attractiveness of wood as a substitute for plastic or aluminium for certain products, but also to the global growth of the cosmetics and perfumery markets in recent years. In fact, around 90% of its sales come from abroad, from countries such as England, Italy, France, Germany and the United States.

With this raw material, Quadpack Wood has developed new products in the last year, especially in the ‘Woodacity’ line, which includes packaging for compact powders, perfume jars and closures, caps for lotion dispensers and tubes, as well as the single-material, refillable lipstick (‘Iconic Woodacity’). Developed in collaboration with Aptar Beauty, this line has been revamped with a 2.0 version, offering a wider variety of wood types and finishes, and a new patented closure system called ‘Solo Snap’. In addition to expanding ‘Woodacity’, Quadpack has launched a new range of lipsticks with a unique recycled material, and in 2024 has introduced ‘The Wanderer’, a dropper tube for precise, targeted application. It is also preparing to launch a new single-material airless system and a refillable one made from glass, as well as a new range of dip-in packs with applicator.

Quadpack Wood was founded by Quadpack in 2013 to manage the business acquired from Technotraf that same year, in the context of the bankruptcy proceedings in which it had been immersed since 2012. Since then, it has been located in the Sant Vicent de Torelló industrial estate, where Quadpack Impressions, which specialises in decoration, is also based. Both are part of Quadpack Group's production division, which also included Quadpack Plastics, formerly Rinaplast, which was closed in 2023 after moving its production to Germany.
