On the occasion of its General Assembly, the Mediterranean Association of Fragrances and Flavours (AMAF) held its Annual Conference last Thursday, 28 November, which in this edition was focused on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability in the world of flavours and fragrances. The meeting took place at the Hotel Torre Melina, a Gran Meliá Hotel, in Barcelona and brought together a wide range of experts and experienced professionals from the industry.

In fact, there was a very important line-up of specialised speakers. Mr. Miguel Ángel Trabado, expert in digital and cultural transformation, spoke about how AI impacts the fragrances and scents sector. This was followed by the block on trends in sustainable raw materials and biotechnology in the world of perfumery and food, given by the companies Lluch Essence, Ernesto Ventós SA and Quimidroga. Afterwards, Ms. Elvira Carles, director of the Fundación Privada Empresa & Clima, gave a dissertation on the current climate emergency.

We are very proud of the success of this event, where we were able to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on our industry and learn about the trends and challenges we face, especially in terms of sustainability and climate emergency. The fragrance and flavour industry is in a process of transformation and we are always looking to anticipate different situations as best we can,’ says AMAF President Denia Martinez.
