The International Contest of Perfumery – Mouillette d'Argent, a prestigious international event that promotes creativity in perfumery, will hold its 7th edition in 2024 in the city of Barcelona. Until now, the six previous editions have been held in Teià. Given the international growth of the competition, which attracts perfume professionals and independents from more than 25 countries, the organising committee has decided to move its headquarters to the city of Barcelona to support the growth of this event.
The contest is organised by the Beauty Cluster, Ainea Perfums, Noreste Studio and the Fundació Julio Muñoz Ramonet. After six editions, more than 500 candidates from 25 different countries have participated. Each year the candidates have to create a new perfume based on the olfactory note determined by the jury, which is chaired by the master perfumer Ramón Monegal. In the 2024 edition, the reference note will be a chord, Leather. Around 100 new proposals are expected and the jury will determine the 12 finalists who will be exhibited in the main perfumeries in Spain and Andorra.
The competition is aimed at professionals and freelancers of any nationality who wish to showcase their creative skills. Participants will be eligible for the jury's prize in two different categories: professionals (working in the industry) and independents. In addition, all the perfumes submitted will compete for the public prize. The Jury, made up of a group of experts in the world of perfume, design, oenology and art, will be in charge of selecting among all the perfumes submitted, the 12 finalists who will participate in the Rosendo Mateu award, and all the independent finalists, who will be no less than 4 and no more than 6, will participate in the award for the best independent perfume. These 12 finalists will be the ones who will compete to become, one of them, the winner by vote of the general public.
In this 7th edition, participants will have until 31 January to register. They must then send samples of their perfumes in accordance with the rules of participation, which can be found on the event's website www.mouillettedargent.com
The competition has the collaboration of the industry, represented by Iberchem, Eurofragance, CPL, Lluch essence, Ventós, Cosmo fragrances, Scentmate, Sandir, Rafesa and Bordas, as well as the support of the sector's media such as the magazines Nez, Next in Beauty and Beautyprof and other institutional collaborators Barcelona City Council.
