Milano Design Week the amusement park of Italian design (II)

But that's not all, the already extensive offer of the Italian design week expands exponentially outside the fair space (https://www.fuorisalone.it/it/2024/eventi); the city divided by districts Brera Design District, Zone Tortona, 5VIE, Milano Durini Design, Isola Design District, has never ceased to amaze.Even the major luxury brands took advantage of the occasion to open their 'homes', offering the opportunity to see, in addition to the collections dedicated to the home, the richness of Milan's historic buildings.The city dressed up for a party and there was no corner, small shop or large exhibition space that did not want to take part in the event and offer something for visitors during this fantastic week.Here are some of the places that I have been able to see and that I found most interesting, especially because of the privileged environment that hosted them:"COLLEZIONE ARMANI MARRIES- ECHI OF THE MONDO"Palazzo Orsini – Via Borgonuovo, 11Brera Design DistrictArmani opens the doors of its historic headquarters to present a collection inspired by the atmospheres, colours and shapes that have permeated his gaze throughout his inspirational travels around the world. Via Enrico Toti, 2.Another must-see event during the Milan Design Week 2024 (Milano Design Week) was undoubtedly the proposal of Artemest, which presented the second edition of 'L'Appartamento', an exaltation of the beauty and uniqueness of Italian design and craftsmanship. On this occasion the event took place in a new location in the 5Vie district: 'la Residenza Vignale'. (https://residenzavignale.com/) ; a princely residence erected in the early 20th century.The unique history of this 'dimora storica' is steeped in romance. Built between 1905 and 1907 as the home of an Austrian prince, this mansion was conceived in honour of the prince's romance with a young Milanese woman. The original project was conceived by the architect Gattermayer in collaboration with the renowned Austrian architect Adolf Loos, a leading exponent of Viennese fin de siècle architecture.After a meticulous restoration in 2002, the residence was transformed into a distinguished event, conference and exhibition centre, renamed 'Residenza Vignale'.This year's exhibition space is the fruit of the creativity and proposals of six prestigious interior design studios: Elicyon, GACHOT, Rottet Studio, Studio Meshary AlNassar, Tamara Feldman Design and VSHD Design. Corso Magenta, 24FuoriSalone 2024 also saw the outstanding presence of Palazzo Litta, a highlight in the vibrant 5Vie district, which this year explored the fascinating theme of the 'Unlimited Design Orchestra'. This former baroque palace has been the setting for captivating exhibitions, both in its majestic interiors and in its charming courtyard. Among the outstanding exhibits are: 'Straordinaria' by Elica, an imposing and vibrant installation inspired by the ethereal lightness of clouds. Its polychrome tubes wave gracefully in the wind. MontionItalia's 'The Mouth', a bold creation in the form of a woman's sensual lips, designed by Gufram, occupies the impressive space of the hall of mirrors. Sara Ricciardi's 'Under the yellow tree', evoking the tranquillity of a willow tree that offers a highly evocative experience amidst the sound of chimes and twining branches. 'Experiential Matter', a sensorial immersion that invites us to explore the connection between human beings and materials, an innovative proposal presented by UNobject. The installation 'Transitions', conceived by Stark for the Fuorisalone, offers a unique sensory experience that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the transformations that water provokes in matter.The whimsical patterns that emerge from the interaction between matter and water reveal a sinuous and surprising beauty. Fragmented and dry lines come to life, transforming into fluid and tortuous flows under the omnipresent influence of moisture. It is as if matter were in constant dialogue with water, responding to its presence with a captivating metamorphosis.The experience is not limited to the visual alone; composer Paolo Bragaglia has created a soundscape that accompanies and complements the visual transitions. The sounds, as living matter in transition, guide the viewer's perception, adding an additional layer of depth to the multi-sensory exploration of the space.Thus, 'Transitions' offers an immersive journey where visitors can explore and reflect on the dynamic nature of matter and its intrinsic relationship with water.
