L'Oréal is behind a new breakthrough in the beauty sector. Debut, the company in which L'Oréal invested a few weeks ago, has unveiled an artificial intelligence platform to discover new ingredients in the cosmetics sector.
BeautyORB is the platform that works to discover these new ingredients and support brands' best claims. BeautyORB analyses some 50 billion molecules for their ability to activate cellular pathways in the skin.
Debut explains that this technology helps reduce typical analysis times by several years and create up to two new ingredients annually.
Joshua Britton, PhD, and founder and CEO of Debut explained that ‘with our advanced platform for understanding skin biology, new ingredient brands can be rapidly created through computational compound prediction. This will help us to activate specific aspects of skin biology while discovering new or improved cellular pathways to improve clinical claims’.
According to the company, the AI platform has already identified three new proprietary ingredients including:
- DermCeutical InflammagePRO, which strengthens the skin barrier and improves elasticity.
- DermCeutical Barrier RepairPRO is an ingredient that protects the skin against damage caused by environmental aggressors.
- DermCeutical LongevityPRO claims to decrease markers of cellular senescence and helps maintain healthy skin cells.
