Procter & Gamble announced the past Thursday a "important enlargement" of his efforts to revert the situation given by the current crisis with a very indispensable as it is the water. With this effort, what tries to look for the American multinational is to implement a series of solutions that have some main aims: protect the ecosystems, replace the reservations of groundwater, reduce the quantity of water diverted of the masses of essential water and improve the quality of the water for the communities and the wild life that depend on they. The company is conscious that the current situation is critical: according to data offered by the UN, almost a third of the world-wide population suffers shortage of water and foresees that this figure duplicate for 2025.
To the list of his goals by the sustainability, add two new: on the one hand, wants to restore more water of which consumes when using the products that belong to the brand P&G in 18 zones with a stress hydrological high (put that the company is conscious that so much for the manufacture of his products, as for the utilisation of them, the water is indispensable). One of them, finds in Spain, specifically in the Cuenca Hidrográfica del Júcar, in Alicante, in which it works with the principles of the efficiency hydrological, and this has allowed along the years reduce 39% the consumption of water in the manufacture. The new strategy of P&G has like aim help to build a future waters net positive, reducing his use in the manufacture of products. These new aims and actions base in the current efforts of sustainability of the company in relation with the climate, the nature, the waste and the water. For this, has set up several lines of action: P&G will continue creating and sharing products, tools and information to help to his consumers to use less water at home, being conscious also that the small actions home can suppose a big difference for the planet. In second place, recover more water of which consumes in the centres of production of P&G in 18 zones with problems of water of all the world. Jon Moeller, president and general director of P&G, recognised that it is necessary to follow employing efforts to revert the current situation, further of which the company already has effected and place in practice: "Water is one of the natural resources most important of the world, and the existence of reservations is something that take for granted too often.
