Canada stands up to Trump's tariff policies. The Canadian country published on March 4th the list of American products that will be subjected to a 25% tariff increase. These measures are already in effect.
The Canadian government has clarified that these measures will remain in place until the White House decides to rectify and modify its tariff policy as well. This tax increase also affects cosmetics from the United States such as grooming and personal care products like shaving foam, personal care items like deodorants, or antiperspirants, objects related to home care such as scented bath salts or other similar solutions. Color cosmetics from the United States will also face retaliation, such as preparations for lip pencils or lipsticks, preparations for eye makeup, preparations for manicures or pedicures, and other substances or ingredients related to skin care, sun protection, or tanning enhancement.
These are just a sample of the long list that Canada has chosen to respond to Donald Trump. Upon hearing the news, Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on Canada, including a 250% tax on dairy products, as the President of the United States stated that "Canada has been taking advantage of the United States for years with lumber and dairy products". However, just two days after warning about this, Trump decided to suspend the tariffs on Canada until April 3rd.
