Luzi has demonstrated on numerous occasions that it is committed to sustainable development and making as little impact on the environment as possible. The fragrance company aims to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 200 tonnes by 2026, which will mean reducing the number of emissions by 30% compared to 2019.

Luzi has become the first fragrance house to operate in a climate-neutral way. This consists, as the company explains, of offsetting CO₂ emissions, whereby every tonne of CO₂ emissions must be "consumed" elsewhere, such as reforestation or the renaturation of wetlands. In the case of Luzi, they point out that they are the first fragrance house with a climate-neutral operation, but they do not offer climate-neutral products.

Through Earth-Conscious Creativity LUZI is committed to becoming a model company in terms of ecological, social and ethical responsibility.
With the move to this new headquarters last year the company has achieved an Earth-Conscious Creativity milestone and we have successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

How has it reduced emissions?

From the communication department, they state that "we manufacture our products without natural gas or biogas, using only renewable energy sources. Heating and cooling is produced by a heat pump powered by the photovoltaic system on the roof. When our energy demand exceeds the electricity generated by the PV system, we purchase electricity from 100 % renewable sources, mainly hydroelectric. Thanks to the far-sighted planning of the new building, we are able to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 80 to 85% and thus impressively improve our environmental performance".
With these statements, LUZI wants to confirm that for them sustainability is not just a trendy term.

What does the new premises in Luzi mean?

In a press release, Luzi CEO Roland Altenburger stressed that it was essential to build a new headquarters for Luzi. And it was necessary for several reasons: for workload reasons, to have the possibility to cover up to 80% of the business that Luzi generates, as well as for sustainability. "For me and my family, it was clear that if we had the opportunity to build new facilities for our headquarters, it had to be state-of-the-art. Not only in terms of creativity and well-being at work, but also in terms of sustainability. From the outset, our aim was to lay the foundations for carbon-neutral operations, which we eventually achieved".

Altenburger explained the whole process and the decisions that went into becoming what are now the perfume company's new offices. "The building must be compact to minimise the ratio of surface area to volume, as it is through the surface area that heat and cold is lost. Then comes good insulation. The heat and cold must come from a renewable source. For this we use geothermal probes. The energy needed must be completely fossil-free. Here we use 100% renewable electricity. We produce some of it ourselves with our solar panels, and the rest comes mainly from hydropower. Of course, all the lighting is LED".

The CEO emphasised that Luzi's aim with the creation of these new facilities is to be as neutral as possible.

Some of the initiatives explained by Luzi are that 80% of the company's cars are electric, they motivate their employees to cycle or use public transport or encourage them to work with nature.
