Alier is involved in the fashion industry and seeks to get value from the waste it generates, so the company has started to design paper for fashion bags to take advantage of textile waste, which is a big challenge in the fashion sector.

The design of this paper for bags is a mixture of 100% recycled post-consumer cardboard and textile waste generated when recycling cotton microfibres that are not optimal.

"This bag paper aims to bring circularity to the fashion world, meeting the demands of a market that is increasingly aware of the importance of giving a second life to waste," explains Matias Cowper, Alier's business development director.

"The result is fully compatible and can be integrated into the paper process because the cotton fibres are cellulosic, like paper, it maintains the desirable properties of paper and adds a softer, tissue-like texture," says Aina Solé, R&D&I Project Coordinator at Alier.

The company continues its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Its ongoing projects aim to reduce its carbon and water footprint and expand its production capacity, reaffirming its position as a leader in ecological and sustainable solutions in the paper industry and beyond. To this end, it plans to steadily increase the funds it allocates to R&D policies and by 2030 it expects to exceed 17 million euros.
