Scentmate® by dsm-firmenich innovates and creates the world's first edible and biodegradable fragrances inspired by emblematic places in Tenerife. The fragrances, formulated through innovative scientific work in collaboration with Diego Schattenhofer - chef at Taste 1973 Restaurant Tenerife and Michelin star - were part of a presentation by the chef on stage at Madrid Fusion 24 and organised by the Cabildo de Tenerife.
The two perfumes are 100% natural, biodegradable, formulated with ingredients approved for use in food products and have been created with Emotions technology, which makes it possible to design fragrances that provoke specific feelings linked to certain emotions.
These two perfumes are El Pinar and Medianías de las Islas, on the one hand, they offer a scent reminiscent of the pine trees of Tenerife that manages to awaken emotions such as relief, serenity, happiness and joy. The Medianías de las Islas are a scent inspired by the flora and fauna of Tenerife and the crops of potatoes, chestnuts, fruit trees and cereals.
According to Marie Hugentobler, creative director and perfumer of Scentmate® by dsm-firmenich, in reference to the joint project with Diego Schattenhofer: "We have extracted the highest quality ingredients that nature has to offer, to offer tailor-made fragrances that arouse deep emotions and capture the essence of each dish".
