According to Provital, a patented fluorescent probe has been used to tag carbonyl groups and measure the levels of carbonyl proteins in hair after bleaching or heat application. In addition, to demonstrate Keradeep's ability to prevent hair carbonylation caused by bleaching, ALBA synchrotron technology was used. The protective effect of Keradeep in maintaining the positional structure of keratin has also been demonstrated using Xpolar® technology.
These studies have shown that Keradeep acts from the inside to protect cuticle proteins from oxidative stress by 68% and cortex proteins by 71%, preventing the appearance of carbonyl groups and the formation of oxidised cysteine species. It also has a protective capacity as an antioxidant and preserves the keratin structure by 94% against sources of stress such as heat or discolouration.
