Facial care sales to rise in 2023

Sales of facial care products in Spain are on the rise. As the latest Euromonitor report indicates, sales of Skin Care products have increased in value and volume in 2023. This increase in sales is also partly due to the importance and relevance of the 'Skinification' trend. In the case of Skin Care, products focus on ingredients and product formulations within the category. This innovation includes multiple ways of including retinol, collagen, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. The Euromonitor report also indicates that L'Oréal is the group with the highest number of sales in facial care products. This is partly due to the success of its dermo-cosmetics brand CeraVe, which has branched out into multiple categories. Also in Spain, and as the report shows, the private label or distributor brand is widely consumed by Spaniards. Mercadona has become the company with the third highest sales in Skin Care. Not surprisingly, Lidl's own brand also increased last year, as well as the content creators who are dedicated to 'hunting' the 'dupes' of the most sought-after cosmetic products. In 2024, the relationship between skin and the microbiome is expected to continue to succeed and encourage the launch of new products around improving skin health. Brands will also continue to embrace an increasingly younger target audience that is already influenced by the content that reaches them through social media and who are themselves demanding a skincare routine.
