Spaniards are more conscius about the sun care

Spaniards are more aware of the dangers of the sun and the care we need to take to protect ourselves. NIVEA SUN by Beiersdorf has carried out a study on sunscreen usage habits and has shown that 96% of Spaniards consider it very important to protect themselves from the sun.

Beiersdorf presented the study to journalists and influencers at its headquarters in Madrid. The aim of the study conducted by Beiersdorf was to raise awareness of the importance of sun protection. The study involved more than 1,000 participants and provides relevant data in terms of skin care against the sun. Specifically, 98% of women in Spain are aware of the importance of sun protection compared to 94% of men and people over 55 years of age are the most aware of the importance of sun protection.

The study also shows that the majority of the population is aware of the harmfulness of UV rays for health. More than 70% of Spaniards say they prefer sunscreen with a high sun protection factor, such as 50 or 50+, for both the body and face.

Despite being aware of the importance of protection, only 55% of respondents admit to using sunscreen in spring, 33% in autumn and 28% in winter, compared to 99% of respondents who say they apply sunscreen in summer.

Spaniards also have a certain ‘predilection’ for the areas of their body that protect from the sun and forget to protect their bodies in everyday activities such as going out in the street or in their daily care routine. They are more aware of sun exposure when doing summer activities such as going to the beach or being at the pool, and 95% and 93% of Spaniards apply sunscreen. Facial protection, on the other hand, has been integrated as a fundamental step in the skin care routine, and women are the most aware of it.

The main source of information for 53% of Spaniards about sun protection is dermatologists. Relatives and friends are the second figure from which Spaniards seek advice about sun care, as well as pharmacies and professionals at points of sale. Television and social networks have also become a purchase driver and are a powerful factor when it comes to deciding which sunscreen to buy.
